Solvent Cement
The Solvent cement is
used for jointing PVC pipes & Fittings. Proper care
is always taken to ensure stringent quality checks on
the product at all stages, without compromising on the
quality. This is simple process for jointing RIGID PVC
PIPES with moulded or fabricated Fittings. The tools
required are a hacksaw with fine teeth, sandpaper,
cotton waste, a soft brush, a knife and solvent cement.
The jointing procedure is as under:
- Inspect the pipe and fittings to ensure that they
match perfectly
- Cut the pipe square, using the hacksaw, clear
burrs with knife and cotton waste
- Rub with the Sandpaper outside of pipe and inside
of fittings. Clean again with cotton waste
- Apply solvent cement evenly with a soft brush on
the outside of the pipe, to a width slightly more than
the corresponding depth, as also on the inside of the
fitting
- Insert the pipe in fitting and turn it through
90ºC, to ensure uniform distribution of cement
- Hold the joint for 2 minutes and ensure that the
pipe does not slip out of fitting
- Wipe out the excess cement from entire surface of
the joint
- The joint should be allowed to set, undisturbed.
It should be pressure tested only after 24 hours.

- It well be useful for jointing of PVC pipes and
fittings
- It can be used for jointing any of two of the
products made from PVC material

Safety Precautions
- Avoid contact with skin
- Always replace lids tightly after use
- Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight
- Do not breathe Solvent Cement vapours
- Shake the solvent cement container thoroughly
before use
- Do not smoke while working with solvent cement, as
it is highly inflammable
- The excess solvent should b e wiped out from
entire surface of the joint

Ring fit Pipes
A Dynamic New Product
- Integrated Thermoplastic Ltd., a unit of UPVC
Group of Companies has developed Ring fit pipes to
overcome problems commonly experienced in solvent
cement jointing of higher diameter (above e 160 mm)
uPVC Pipes
- These UPVC Gold branded Ring fit pipes offers
excellent advantages over other uPVC pipes specially
for underground applications
The Ringfit pipe convenience and advantages
- Pipelines utilizing Ring fit pipes can be taken up
for pressure testing immediately on completion of the
section. Unlike for solvent cement joints, the waiting
period required for solvent cement jointing is
entirely eliminated, resulting in short installation
duration
- Ring fit pipes are easy to install in the field,
Ring fit pipes of diameters below 140 mm can be
jointed by hand pressure. For large sizes a pipe jack
is available for the purpose
The Ring fit flexibility
- Pipe lines made with Ring fit pipes automatically
accommodate liner expansion and contraction thus
eliminating the need for expansion loops as are
required for solvent cemented pipelines
- Slight shifting of soil or bending of the pipeline
upto 2 degrees per joint can be easily accomodated by
Ring fit pipes
The unique Elastomeric Sealing Ring
- Ring fit pipes are fitted with a special
elastomeric sealing ring with has many advantages over
natural rubber
- It is not affected by ozone, ultraviolet radiation
(sunlight), bacteria, fungus and termites
- It is resistant to salt water, organic vegetable
oils, dilute acids, dilute alkalies, aqueous chlorine
and other pollutants and contaminants found in
communal sewage and waste water
- It has prolonged self-life and Manufacturers claim
a shelf life over 50 years
- Highly reliable and robust. Tests have shown that
Ring fit joints successfully withstand pressures
beyond the specified testing pressures for the pipe.
Precautions to be taken
- While jointing higher diameter pipes with solvent
cement, the cement applied sometimes tends to dry
before the joint can be completed, resulting in
imperfect joints leading to leakage when used. This
situation could be avoided by applying correct
quantity of solvent cement and quick jointing of pipes
and too little solvent cement will lead to weak or
leaky joints, and too much will result in accumulation
of cement inside the pipe which eventually weaken the
area adjoining the joints
- Solvent cement is inflammable and calls for extra
care in handling. Its life deteriorates if it is
exposed to the sun and after longer periods of its
storage

India Mark
– II handpump is divided into four main assemblies
Head Assembly
Pump Head Assembly (above ground mechanism) consists
of Head with Inspection cover, Third plate, Handle,
Water chamber and stand.
Cylinder Assembly
Cast Iron Body painted outside and lined from inside
with seamless Brass liner at 63.5mm I.D., Gun-metal
valve components and Nitrile rubber components.
Discharge capacity is 15 liters @ 40 strokes per min.
Connecting Rod
12mm dia mild steel electro galvanized, in three
meter lengths with hexagonal coupling of both the
ends.
Riser Pipe (Drop Pipe)
32mm N.B., G.I. Medium pipe in three meters length
with a socket at one end.
Installation
Simple Installation of India Mark-II Handpump, when
installed properly, gives very long uninterrupted
service. For step installation procedure and other
details, please refer to our installation and
Maintenance Manual.
Salient Features of INDIA MARK – II Handpump
- Suitable for borewell installation with static
water levels upto 45 mtrs.
- The entire above ground components are fabricated
out of steel sections hence they are strong and study.
- The pump Body is hot-dipped galvanized hence
corrosion proof.
- Handle is designed for ease of operation.
- Pre-greased sealed Ball Bearings add to the ease
of operation and elimination of greasing during use.
- The Spout design ensures collection of water in
any type pf vessel normally used.
- Pedestal Design ensures the bore hole is sealed to
prevent water source contamination.
- Cylinder with highly polished brass liner ensures
long life of Nitrile Rubber Pump Bucket.
- The Rubber parts in the cylinder are nontoxic and
hence they course no health hazards.
- All internal parts of the cylinder are made of
Gunmetal to ensure long life.
- These pumps can be easily adopted for Shallow
Well, Windmill and Motonised operations with minor
modifications.
- India Mark – II pump works on the positive
displacement principle, hence the discharge remains
constant irrespective of the depth of bore.

India Mark III Handpump - VLOM 50 & VLOM 65
VLOM Hand pump is the outcome of extensive R & D
based on the Village Level Operation and Maintenance

/ Maintenance skills.
- India Mark II cylinder assembly modified to have
open - top cap to suit 65 / 50mm N.B., G.IO riser

AFRIDEV pump has been designed taking into consideration

operation. AFRIDEV Pump can be handled even by a woman

Salient Features
- Non corrosive below ground components capable of
working in corrosive water sources.
- UPVC Riser Pipe, Cylinder, Plunger & Foot
Valves are light weight and inexpensive.
- 10mm dia, Three meter long Connecting Rod with
forged eye & hook at either sides for interlocking
easily, without the use of any tools.
- Fulcrum & Rod hanger pins are supported on
special grade plastic Bush Bearings easily

Extra Deep Well
India Mark – II Extra Deepwell handpump are
manufactured as per Bureau of Indian standards Specs:
viz. 13287/92 capable of lifting water upto 90 meters
setting depth.

- These pumps are suitable for lifting water from
depths of upto 90 meters.
- Heavier handle with a T-bar and additional weight
ensures reduced pumping efforts. Even a teenage child
or a woman can easily operate the pump.
- There is a similarity in component with India
Mark-II, And can components be interchanged.
- Both steel & Stainless steel rods are
available but stainless steel rods are recommended as
per 15:1573 (steel rods are electro galvanized).

solid coupler is recommended for coupling.

Ceramic Filter
The main content of this filter consists of a highly compressed ceramic diatom. It is highly resistant to heat as tested by professionals. The Ceramic Filter removes all dirt, sand particles, bacteria, amoeba etc from the water. The diameter of Ceramic Filter is 0.2 micron whereas the diameter of bacteria is 0.5 to 1.0 micron.
